3 months contract with A Local Authority

Job Summary:

The post holder will have a major contribution to make to deliver that vision and the strategic priorities set out in the Kingston Plan by providing effective professional Social Work provision across Adult Social Care.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

To be fully responsible for managing a a caseload of customers and carers with complex needs.

To provide professional supervision to qualified and non-qualified staff.

To provide practice assessor and /or practice educator role for AMHP, ASYE, social work students.

To maintain the professional qualifications, memberships and registrations required to perform the role.

To ensure both staff and public safety, by preventing and diffusing difficult situations and taking responsibility to escalate to managers where necessary.

To carry out and manage the process of MHA assessments, consistent with legal and statutory obligations.

To participate in AMHP rota.

To identify the least restrictive option and to act as an autonomous professional, consistent the mental health legislation and associated Codes of Practice.

To engage and support Nearest Relatives when undertaking statutory work.

Essential Experience Required:

Demonstrable understanding of the principles and application of excellent adult social care.

Experience of a similar role in a Local Authority.

Experience of using case-based ICT systems.

A minimum of 1 years' experience working in Mental Health Settings.

To have attained a relevant Post Qualifying award. E.g. Practice Teaching, PQ Award.

A minimum of 1 years' experience as a qualified practitioner.

Essential Qualifications Required:

There is an expectation that all social workers working within the adult mental health team will hold the qualification of AMHP and BIA Assessor or be willing to undertake training and do so on completion of 2 years post-qualification practice.

To carry out and manage the process of MHA assessments, consistent with legal and statutory obligations.

Educated to degree level with appropriate professional qualification relevant to the role and specialism (e.g.- CSS/CQSW or DipSW)

Either be a qualified AMHP or be willing to train as an Approved Mental Health Professional.

We have a hybrid working policy.

The AMHPs are free to determine their work location depending on the assessments of the day, while space for in our office and other locations is also available.
