Job Description

We are looking for an Assistant team Manager to work in a Therapy Team consisting of Urgent Response OT, Reablement OT, Moving and Handling and Physiotherapy. Must have experience of managing a diverse therapy team, be able to support staff with resolving complex assessments and prepared to undertake visits with staff when required. You must have a full driving license and access to a vehicle. This is a 7 day service, working 5 days with 2 days rest per week, therefore you must be able and prepared to work occasional weekends as the Service demands.

Responsibilities

  • To undertake the delegated budgetary task as determined by the Team Manager/Head of Service, in accordance with Standing Orders/Financial Procedures
  • To ensure the correct implementation of the assessment and purchasing process, prioritisation of work and implementation of procedures in accordance with Directorate Procedural Manual
  • To provide appropriate staff supervision and professional support, which may include carrying a small caseload of complex cases and chairing case reviews and case conferences as appropriate
  • To ensure the effective assessment of need, the creation of outcome focussed plans and implementation of robust monitoring arrangements
  • To participate in monitoring and evaluation of the service
  • To investigate complaints with the Directorate representation and complaints procedure
  • To contribute to the Divisional and Directorate Planning processes
  • With the Team Manager, be responsible for setting objectives for the team and contribute to setting objectives and agreeing targets within the Divisional Plan
  • To maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners
  • To keep up to date with professional developments in the field of Occupational Therapy and Adult Care and make appropriate recommendation to Team Manager, on the development or review of services in the light of new information
  • To represent the Directorate from time to time as required and to deputise for the Team Manager in his/her absence as required
  • To participate in the recruitment, selection and performance management of staff
  • To contribute to the Borough Major Emergency Plan as a Rest Centre Manager
  • To ensure compliance with Council and Directorate Equality and Diversity Policy and to ensure appropriate data is collected and monitored
  • To work in partnership with other ATM’s within the Section to ensure the smooth running of all teams.
  • To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may, from time to time be required
  • To work within the Professional Code of Conduct of Occupational Therapists 

Skills

  • Demonstrable experience of IT skills – experience and knowledge of computerised database systems e.g. swift, AIS, word, excel
  • Experience of staff supervision – of both qualified and unqualified staff
  • Demonstrable experience relating to Moving and Handling, Safe systems of work and a practical application of Single-handed Care philosophy.
  • Demonstrable experience of specialist equipment - a wide knowledge, including its safe fitting and demonstration
  • Experience in Reablement, urgent care and long-term management in the community setting
  • Have the ability to make efficient and effective travel arrangements. The post holder must have a full driving licence and use of a vehicle insured for business purposes

Qualifications

  • Professional Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Manual Handling Advisor
  • Registered with the Health and Social Care Professional Council (HCPC)or National Back exchange
