The Network Engineer has a primary function to act as a technical resource on all work allocated to the network team. This will include larger projects managed by the project team as well as internal infrastructure or BAU and Service Requests from the business. The role will ensure that across the service catalogue for the team, quality levels are maintained for the documentation set.
The role will work as part of an onsite team in providing network systems support, working on tasks allocated by the technical Infrastructure Manager. The Network Team will also work in close partnership with other members across the IT department. It is therefore essential that the Network Engineer follows the agreed protocols, standards and processes. This role will be responsible that all security risks within the network environment are assessed and appropriate measures implemented to control those risks.
The team will cover operational hours between 08:00 and 17:00. Additional out of hours working may be a requirement to undertake specific projects, for which prior notification will be given and overtime will be paid. The role will ensure that training takes place within the team to ensure cross-skilled technical cover is adequately provisioned.
There is plenty of opportunity within the role to pro-actively engage in a variety of tasks and it is essential that the role holder has a high level of communication skills, exhibits technical competence, and, can operate in a pressured environment where every day is different and priorities can change quickly. Training is offered to deliver new technologies and self- study is encouraged to all employees. Annual performance reviews are conducted by the IT Infrastructure Manager.
