Job Summary:

The Temporary Accommodation and Procurement Compliance service is responsible for the procurement of temporary accommodation, approving property service providers with sufficient competence, skill and expertise in the supply and management of residential property.

Service leads on operational matters between the Council and property providers, manage the inspection of temporary accommodation to ensure they are fully compliant with the Council's minimum standards and health and safety requirements; and seek to provide temporary accommodation schemes that deliver the best possible value to the council..

Key Duties/Accountabilities

The temporary accommodation procurement officer will support the service to maximise the supply of suitable and safe temporary accommodation homes for homeless households.

The postholder will contribute to the ambitions of the council's housing strategy and establish procurement opportunities for the temporary accommodation service.

The role will lead in building effective and positive relationships with external providers to ensure an adequate flow of temporary accommodation is available daily to meet housing demand.

Expand and diversify the existing portfolio of temporary accommodation service providers

To negotiate the best financial deals for new supply of properties

Actively identify ways to increase supply of affordable properties

Inspect properties to ensure it meets the agreed property standard

Practical in complaint resolutions

Essential Experience Required:

Lettings experience either in the private rented sector or a local authority managed scheme is essential.

Experience of the private rented sector and property procurement is essential.

Experience of the Housing Act and how it relates to homeless households is essential.

Essential Qualification Required:

General level of educational qualification is essential.

Additional information to note:

Working hours: 36 hours per week.

The role will be based at our Pancras Square office and requires the successful candidate to undertake negotiations with property providers, visits and inspections to properties located within and outside Camden borough. Some home working may be available in agreement with the line manager.
